Brent Colbert, Principal
(Download VCF)

Brent is one of those rare consultants who have worked at all three levels of government in Canada: municipal, provincial and federal. His links in the Conservative Party are impeccable and his understanding about the machinery of government – particularly through a political lens – is excellent. Brent helps ensure the that Tactix team has its finger on the pulse of what matters to ministers and helps us ensure our clients “ask” lines up accordingly.

A veteran of over 60 political campaigns at all levels of government; Brent has served as a senior advisor to the Ontario Ministers of Health, Environment and Community Family and Children’s Services during the Mike Harris government.

Brent has most recently served as Chief of Staff to Ottawa Mayor Larry O’Brien, working with the Mayor for over four years as one of his most trusted advisors. During his time at the city Brent oversaw the approval process for a $1.8 billion Transit Plan and numerous Infrastructure Stimulus Projects. He also successfully navigated a tumultuous 52 day city transit driver walkout.

He began his career on Parliament Hill working for the Parliamentary Secretary to Fitness and Amateur Sport, and over the course of 6 years gained valuable experience in the Ministries of International Trade, Environment and Industry.

A frequent media commentator on contentious issues, he has appeared in print, radio, and national television. Brent’s savvy and sound counsel is an important component to the political dimensions of many client engagements.

Brent attended Carleton University and is an Ottawa native. He and his wife Lynne have two daughters.
